???Has anyone got a front panel and passenger side wing for sale?? Can be s/h or new, but must be rot free. Also if i put in a 19 tooth pinion to replace a 20 tooth pinion( to go from 3.1 to 2.9 diff) can i use the same crown wheel? Any advise will be gratefully recieved.

sorry no front wings.
As far as I know crown and pinion are matched due to the profiles on the gear teeth.
I do not believe that you can change one without the other.
I may be wrong and i am sure that others will reply to this posting to help verify either way.
Hope this helps.

CWP are matched I think - you would certainly normally change one with the other, which requires a gearbox strip rather than just whipping the diff off.
Genuine wings & front panels etc can be ordered cheaply through Suzy or pattern parts through Jamie .

Thank you for your comments, it looks like i will have to buy the cwp as a matched pair. How can i contact Jamie regarding panels. We use the car for racing so it would be a waste of money paying for the gen panels.

I believe he has posted his phone number in the members contact area. Failing that, pop down to the next MU meeting.

Call me thick if you want, but i can't find the members contact area. Making a meeting on Monday night is difficult as i start work in Bristol early every morning. If someone could send me he's email dd i could then contact him. Getting tight for time now, next round of British series in 3 weeks and there is far too much to do.

;DThank you for the replies. The panels have been ordered from Jamie. We are looking for a 2.9 diff if anyone has one for sale. ;D Again thank you. If you see a mini with SS140 on it behind a camper give us a blast of your horn!!!

Just out of curiosity I assume that SS140 is a south somerset autograss number. Many years ago i used to be in the Weymouth club as class 5 WS60. Is the 2.9 diff far a grass racer?. Seems high geared.

3.44 or 3.65 would seem better for autograssing to the layman.

If i remember rightly most of the 1000cc (Class4) boys used to use a 3.44 and lighter. I myself used to use a 3.44 with 12 inch rims and 155 x 70 monarch M+S. This allowed the extraction of the torque from the 1349 motor. 296cam and stage 3 only head. Too bigger valve and you loose the torque. If a bigger valve head is needed so more rpms a bigger cam 310ish and a lighter final drive. maybe a 3.65.

In 2004 we used a 3.4 diff, Jim was the Southern League Champion. The car went well until the L & J nationals. Because it was on a longer track than we have down here, the car was the first out of the gate, but last into the corner. In 2005 we changed to a 3.1 and this has worked well, Jim has beaten cars that cost 2 or 3 times as much as ours. For this years L & J, we have been told that the track is a bit longer, so that is why we are looking for a 2.9. We are going to the Men's nat's this weekend to see how the 2.9.s go. A few of our friends are using them so they will let us know. After all this i still need one so if anyone has please call or text 07917840858 as i am away until next weekend.
