Thought I would ask if anyone is interested in a barbeque on a Monday night in the next few weeks when we go on a run.
My Local in Wembdon (Bridgwater) could provide a fab BBQ for a nominal charge per head on a weeknight. Best Ribs and Homemade burgers I have ever had !!!!
It also quite a nice run over to Bridgwater on the back roads from Taunton.
We would have to get to Bridgwater by say around 8-8.30 so we have enough daylight, but that should not be a problem if no-one needs to cook thier dinner.
What do you all think ?.
Will bring this up at the next club meeting 26/7.
In the meantime if you could indicate your possible interest I can speak to Stuart (Landlord) further and get some menu ideas and costs.
Mike

sounds good to us, as it is back towards weston, rather than away from it ! the last couple of runs we did, totaled about 100 miles each for us.

Yes,
I guess its probably only 20mins from Bridgwater to Weston, The pub is real close to the new distributor road so fab access to both minehead and to junction 23 / 24 of the M5.
As previously mentioned the Run to Bridgwater using the back roads through kingston or Enmore is similar to the Ham Hill Run of last time.

Hello All,
I am sure that Suzy has made a fantastic job of speaking to you all last night at the Monday night meet reference this topic. Does next meet the 10th July or the following 24th July sound the most favourable option.
Having spoken to the landlord of my local he says he can provide a full homemade barbeque consisting of burgers, sausages and ribs etc with dips and salad for around £6.50 a head.
If this is too much it would be nice to know how much people would be prepared to spend. (you would do well to remember that Stuarts portions are generally quite large). And he will provide a menu based on what people would like to spend.
We can do this on any Monday we like but will have to let Stuart know on the Thursday before with relatively firm numbers to allow him time to purchase the necessary ingredients etc in the correct quantities.
Please can I have an indication of numbers please.
My only real thoughts on this would be that we would have to leave The Blackbrook a little earlier than normal say 7.30 / 7.45 to allow enough time for a back road run up to Wembdon and still allow enough time for a sensible daylight BBQ.
My second thought is that if the weather is really sh** what do we do about the BBQ. I will speak to stuart and see if this could still work. I think that there may be a gazebo covered BBQ option. I will keep you al posted

Those of you who expressed interest in this (made a note at last night's meeting):
Suzy & Alex, Paul Huish, Emma & Andy & James, Dave & Wendy, Mike Bond, Vicks, Andy M, Vicky Osborne. Sure there were a few more - please can you add your name to the list!
Possibles - Ian Wyatt + 1
Mike - please can you ask your lovely friendly landlord if dogs (i.e. Gizmo) would be allowed in the beer garden?

As far as I know Stuart does not have a problem with dogs. As have seen several inside the Pub as well as outside.
I will however check to confirm but do not believe there will be any problems whatsoever.
You could hide Gizmo up your shirt anyway ;D ;D ;D !

Sara and I are up for that, but wont be able to do 24th as we will be on route to Nurburg ! ! ! if it be bfore then, it would be great for us. I think £6.50 a head sounds good, but if it could be a bit less, then even better ;D

Hi there I do not want to sound officious, but have all the people that are interested in this actually said. I think not somehow.
If we are going to do this Monday week 10th. I need to let stuart know about numbers by this Weds Evening 5th so he can get food in. I also will confirm tomorrow eveningabout what we can do in the event of real bad weather ( i.e. can we still have the BBQ.
As mentioned before, Price would be £6-6.50 per head. I suggest that we look to leave the blackbrook at maybe 7.45- 8.00pm latest for the run over.
Suzy would there be any chance of an e-mail to all members on line in the next day or so

Guys,
I have a massive apology to make on behalf of myself and my landlord.
Chaos has struck. The BBQ that was scheduled to go ahead at the next club meet 10/7 will not be able to go ahead as something has cropped up for my landlord that he can not get out of. As he is the chef we can not do anything about this.
He tells me that we can do this in a couple of weeks time at the next club meet after that 24/10 if we wish or we can postpone it further if you would all like.
Sorry All
I hate it when things like this happen.
Does anyone else want to organise a different run for the next clubmeet ??

we could organise a run up to Weston-super-mare, for fish 'n' chips on the seafront (or ice cream/ candyfloss/ toffe apples . . .)
there are plenty of bars along the front, that you can sit outside of , or we coupld even venture up the pier ! !
what do you reckon

i am happy to organise a run upto Weston. we could from Blackbrook, and via the Brean Lanes, but we would need to do a bit of motorway as well, otherwise it would take too long.
