Hello Minis Unlimited,
Time has come for me to part with my rolling minivan restoration project as I no longer have enough time to do it justice and am therefore looking for a new loving home for it thus I thought it best to offer it to a club first before the mighty ebay.
I bought it 3 years ago and it was a complete sieve, with holes throughout the floor, sills, front end, a pannels and doors. it has had new floor, inner & outer A's, wings, headlamp bowls and lights, front panel. 2 rear wheel arches and sills, decent second hand morris mk1 bonnet.
The car has had a poor respray at some point in its life which bubbled and there are still a few areas that need attention where I have taken the paint back to reveal patches of rust underneath the paint.
There is a hole that requires a repair on one side panel where seem is with sill and wheel arch lip - was going to just fill it just to get it back on the road but I guess the more experienced would cut it out and replace with metal.
There are still a number of area of bodywork to do such as filling a whole near the rear arch one side.
I have got a pretty good restored passenger side door (bare but have most of bits to build up - glass handles locks etc) and have a decent frame for drivers door that require reskinning and bottom repair for which I have the panels. Rear doors have had bottom repairs at some point and they are pretty cool just a couple ofbits where the rubber seal that seals between the doors has caught the rot and departed.
It has a very good metro 1275 in it that came from a g reg metro that was running spot on. It had 35k miles on the clock, and pulled really well when I drove the car back from Brum - it had 10 months mot on it!
The engine turns over, and I have regularly connected a battery and turned it over following a bit of 'lube' down the bores.
I have also converted to 12" mini disc brakes, but need overhall. It has also got new gas shocks and hi lo's, lcb manifold and superflow side exit exhaust fitted.
I have most of the spares and several tubs of bits which can all go with it.
The van is on its way to recovery - I would say that for someone with the time, funds and friends in mini places! it would be a few weeks away from the road and I will be very sad to see it go.
As I said, I am offering this to your club on first refusal as you are my local club, car in shepton mallet, and I have had a couple of contacts with one of your members and feel that it would be the best place for it to go to give the van the best chance of hitting the road and would very much love to see it grace the pages of your site in the future.
As for a price, I feel that with the level of work done and the level of work required to get back on the road and also the amount of new gear on it as detailed above I am looking for £500.
Please call me on 07876324479 or email dave@renwar1.fsnet.co.uk
I have posted 2 photos of the van on my company website -
one of it when I first bought itand one recent.
