Finaly bought me first mini on monday got it home left standing tll friday, started but ran rough( not sure if due to incopetence with choke throttle etc ) spluttered to a stop tried starting again bt to no avail wasnt sure if had spark at the time but checked sunday and got spark, fuel is going to the carb (Mechanical fuel pump) it has been run very little since last august at most 20 miles it was running fine when we got it home but was low on fuel and have since topped up! its a 1970 Austin 1000
any help would be appreciated

Is it a nice fat spark or a weak and weedy one? If it's a good spark, try starting it with full choke, suggest a very little throttle, no more.
If no go after a very good go of the starter motor, whip out a plug and see if it smells of petrol - if no smell it may be that running so low on fuel has sucked some crud up into the crab?
