Hi, I have taken on a massive project.Basically the mini (Late seventies.) is in a very sound condition mechanically but the bodywork will require some major work. I’ve been told im mad, brave or stupid, but thses comments were from non mini owners. Stripping of the car for the welding work has already began. The mini will need both rear wheel arches replaced, anybody who knows their minis will know that this is not a job to be undertaken lightly. Indeed experienced panel beaters will cringe at the project and say that it is just not economially viable but in this case, possibly re-shelling the car (Or worse!!!) Is not going to be an option here. Panels to be replaced are... wheel arches boot floor, and one whole side. Im almost finished with the cutting and grinding. I’ll try and have the pics posted soon. I worn you, its not for the faint hearted. Those of you who are experienced in this field, your thoughts and views are very welcome as this is a job that I have never done before.

Don't forget to take plenty of measurements, especially diagonals, before cutting too much to ensure correct alignment when reassembling !! Cross bracing with tacked-in bars to keep everything stable is also a good idea as I know how much you will be chopping out...

This is the best way as all the panels are welded together on a gig and that means they will fit correctly.
