Madam Figment-Or-Pigment says that's not a 'Rover' colour. Vermillion was used on late 70's British Leyland/early 80's Austin Minis. Tubbs is Vermillion. Well, she was until it faded and went rusty! hahahaha

I feel a bulk-buy of paint coming on !!
You do realise that a colour change will require a complete strip of your car, or the interior, boot & engine bay will look wonky.

yeah i know have started stripping car down but only part i wont be doing is engine bay as too much work and it will only get filthy in there anyway. have nearly finished roof now put the final coat on yesterday and will be putting the lacquer coat on tomorrow then finishing it off on saturday. oh and we can bulk buy the paint if you want but i am going to be using spray cans rather than a spray gun.

over the weekend i checked the valve clearances and the head nuts to check were all tight and i intend to fit a new fuel pump dizzy and gasket set for carb and manifold already done clutch. is there anything else anyone can reccomend i do before i fit the engine to the car? is it possible to time the engine with it out of the car? also checked behind the front wheels found that the discs are knackered and that for some reason the passenger side track rod end was held inplace by cable ties instead of the nut??? and the big nut on the end of the driveshaft has been almost cut in half. So now have a nice long shopping list for the IMM at the weekend : ) oh yeah and thanks to davebart for the rad and seatbelts cheers.

have hit a bit of a setback in the from of my awfull micras failing health and imminent mot failure. so have had to put off doing the respray and concentrate on getting the mini back on the road before the end of september so it can be used as my daily drive which is a bit gutting as never intended to use it every day oh well on the bright side at least i will be able to enjoy my drives to work more once its finished.

If you need any help or advice, just shout.
Static timing can be done with the engine out of the car, but it is better to dynamic time it with a strobe light. I have plenty of spare diveshaft nuts.

have made some more progress this weekend fitted new front wheel bearings and discs and the heater matrix inside car which was quite uncomfortable to do and refitted interior just need new carpet set and then interior will be ready will prob get new seats eventually but not yet. have now decided against orange respray after seeing what the car looks like with current paint scheme as i quite like it the way it is. although the roof doesn't look anywhere near as good up close so i will be saving up my pennys to get a full respray in current colours when its back on the road and will be changing the bumpers for black ones as well. am now nearly ready to refit engine just need a new fuel pump plugs, and leads, gaskets for carb and radiator hoses. and waiting for engine mounts with handy captive nuts to arrive. Its getting closer now am starting to get quite impatiant now waiting for the first drive.

The dizzy in the auction won't work - it is for an A-Series engine not an A+ and won't fit. It's also from an MGB so will have a different advance curve set up for a B-Series engine.
I've got a box of fuel pump you are welcome to have a rootle through. Captive nut engine mounts are a nice idea, but perversely can actually make it harder to fit the engine ! You can't have a really good heave with a podger or screwdriver to line up the holes in the mount & subframe as you will knacker the thread on the nuts - makes it much harder to get the bolt lined up and screwed in...

have now serviced existing dizzy new points condensor rotor arm and the like in an attempt to save some pennys in short term and yeah did see the problem with captive nuts but thought it the lesser of two evils compared to trying to jam my hand in a gap that is just too small. also yes to fuel pump idea was thinking of dropping off the money for my castle combe tickets either this saturday or next saturday so will bring along some extra money can you let me know if thats ok and if this saturday or next would be better. cheers

due to holiday next week and then mot and tax for micra and tax for clio progress has slowed to a stop but am hoping to get some parts this weekend and start working on it again next weekend am close to getting engine in now am just waiting to get fuel pump and all the various cables and then getting money together to rent a crane. then that just leaves back brakes and wheel bearings? a carpet set and some new tyres and im done. apart from the re-spray which i am now resigned to the fact it will need a professional job but will drive it whilst saving for the paint job.
